damn these govt offices
i had been to passport office today, it was a name change business i had to do. since yesterday had been preparing for this (looked like i was going for an exam). prepared the file perfectly, and reached there 15 minutes after the office opens ie 9:45 AM. stood in a long queue that went in circles and reached the main gate. the process was that this queue was leading to a room, where tokens were distributed, one waits with the tokens in the room and when turn comes you go to the window and submit what ever you are there for.
i was in the circled line for about 2 hours and reached very close to the door, when this security guy announced that the days time was over and we all had to come the next day. well they stop distributing tockens at 12:00...wondering where we had gone wrong we started talking to the other fellow sufferers. today was my first day, but there was this guy , who had been turned back like this three times. there was a mother with her 8 month old daughter who was almost in tears waiting for 2 hours and not getting to get the work done.
we were informed that in a day they have capacity to process only 180 to 190 cases. so my question would be why do they let a queue form of about 400 people knowing that half of them will be turned back.
this it seems is a daily issue, so why cant they just increase the number of people at task at the counter, it helps us the customer and also gives employment to few more people... why are the authorities sleeping?
may be because they know we have no where else to go, it is not like if you do not like your mobile service you move to another one or change your bank if you are not happy. they know for a fact that we have no where else to go and will come back to them. and rightly said...that is the exact reason i will be there tomorrow morning once again, but this time sharp at 8:30 , and just to let you know, i will surely not be the first person to reach there, as the queue starts forming around 6:30 - 7:00 AM waiting for the gates to open at 9:30...
so all i can say is God help me and hope my work is done tomorrow, their philosophy is: "it is ur work so come and stand for hours in hot sun, we are the govt - the power, it is our right to screw you the way we want...and so we do..."
